RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE’S FIELD OFFICE
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION
A. This Section specifies field office, equipment, and services to be provided for the Resident
Project Representative or Owner at the project site during the entire time of construction.
B. General Requirements: The field office, equipped as specified herein, shall be provided at the site, ready for use by the Resident Project Representative within 15 days after the Notice to Proceed. The facilities provided under this Section will remain the property of the Contractor. The field office shall be fully maintained with all utilities connected and operable until the Notice of Completion has been executed or recorded. Upon execution or recordation of the Notice of Completion, or upon early release of the field office by the Resident Project Representative the Contractor shall remove the field office within 14 days from the date of notification, and shall restore the site to its original condition.
C. Office: The contractor shall provide a well-lighted field trailer office having a minimum floor space of 400 square feet with a toilet room (containing a water closet and lavatory partitioned off from the working area) and outside door lock. The Contractor shall provide all necessary electrical outlets, lighting, plumbing, toilet and lavatory fixtures, and heating and air conditioning equipment (shall be capable of maintaining 68 degree F inside the office under
120 degrees F ambient temperature), and shall provide water, sewer and daily janitorial services for the duration of the work. The office shall have a minimum two private offices, with interior doors separated by open space for one conference table and chairs.
1.2 FIELD OFFICE FURNISHINGS
A. The Contractor shall provide the following listed items in good condition for the primary field office:
2 Standard 30 x 60-inch desk with not less than 3 drawers
1 Plan table 36 x 72-inch top; 36 inches high
1 Plan rack (all metal plan-hold type) capable of holding 6 sets of plans, complete with 6 standard all metal plan-hold clamps
3 File cabinets, legal size, each with 4 drawers with lock and 3 keys, double suspension, complete Pendaflex suspension racks for each drawer. File cabinet must be fire resistant.
3 Office chair, standard arm rest type, adjustable swivel tilt-back with casters
6 Office chair, stiff-leg type, no armrest
1 Drafting stool
4 Waste baskets
1 Tack board 36 x 42 inches, wall mounted
1 Bottled water dispenser unit (supplying both hot and cold water) and bottled water service and continuous supply of paper cups
1 4' x 8' conference room table
2 3' x 5' office tables
3 Free standing bookshelves, minimum 4 feet high. Nine linear feet of shelf space shall be provided in each.
1 Whiteboard, 4' x 3' with erasable color markers and supplies.
1 10-inch indoor/outdoor maximum/minimum thermometer
1 First Aid Kit
2 Carbon Dioxide (10-Pound) Fire Extinguishers
2 Telephone receivers, desk mounted with one incoming/outgoing line, touch-tone, with conference speaker, and 12-foot coiled handset cord.
2 Incoming Telephone lines: One line dedicated to the Facsimile Machine, and one line dedicated for voice transmission.
1 DSL Internet service and connection.

1.3 SPECIAL OFFICE EQUIPMENT
A. Copy Machine: The Contractor shall provide, for the exclusive use of the Resident Project Representative, one office copy machine. Copy machine shall be a dry, electrostatic process, capable of reproducing original 8 x 11, 8 x 14, and 11 x 17 originals on either 8 x 11,
8 x 14, or 11 x 17 plain bond paper. The copy machine shall be capable of both full-size and reduced size prints such that an 11 x 17 or an 8 x 14 original can be copied on a sheet of 8 x
11 paper. The machine must have an automatic stack-feed capability and collating capability. The Contractor shall obtain and pay for a service contract with a local representative of the copy machine vendor for on-site service and repair. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary supplies required for proper operation of the copy machine. The Resident Project Representative will supply all bond reproduction paper required.
B. Facsimile Machine
1. General: The Contractor shall provide, for the exclusive use of the Resident Project Representative, one facsimile machine in the Resident Project Representative’s field office.
2. Facsimile Machine: The facsimile machine shall be capable of printing on plain bond paper. The facsimile machine shall be equipped with the following features:
a. Automatic document feed, not less than 30 originals
b. 16-digit LED display
c. Minimum memory storage for 32 speed dial telephone numbers
d. Delayed transmission memory
e. Automatic redial
3. Service Contract: The Contractor shall obtain and pay for a service contract with local representative of the dealer for on-site service and repair. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary supplies required for proper operation of the facsimile machine. The Resident Project Representative will supply all bond reproduction paper required.
1.4 FIELD TELEPHONE SERVICE
A. Within 15 days after the Notice to Proceed, the Contractor shall provide telephone and DSL service in the field office provided as specified herein for the use of the Resident Project Representative, the Owner, or the Engineer in connection with performance of the work hereunder.
1.5 FIELD OFFICE SERVICES
A. The field office required hereunder shall be provided with sufficient lighting to provide not less than 50 foot-candles at desktop height at each desk location. Exterior lighting shall be provided over the entrance door.
B. A minimum of six 110 VAC duplex electric convenience outlets shall be provided in the office and in the conference room and common area. The electric distribution panel shall provide service to not less than two 110-v, 60-Hz circuits.
C. Toilet shall be connected to a sanitary sewer. A continuous supply of toilet paper and paper towels shall be furnished for the toilet facility.
D. Regular daily janitorial services shall be furnished during working hours each day. Offices shall be swept, dusted, and waste receptacles emptied.
1.6 FIELD OFFICE UTILITIES
A. The Contractor shall make all provisions and pay all installation costs for the Resident Project Representative office to provide telephone service, power service, exterior lights and any local code and OSHA requirements. With the exception of charges for international and out of state toll calls, the Contractor shall pay all monthly charges for the various utility services provided to the Resident Project Representative’s office throughout the construction period.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 FIELD OFFICE
A. The field office shall be new or substantially new. Materials, equipment, and furnishings shall be new.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
A. The Contractor shall fill and grade sites for temporary structures to provide surface drainage.
Provide access roads and paths and parking areas.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. The Contractor shall construct temporary field office on proper foundations and provide connections for utility services. Steps and landings shall be provided at entrance doors and a thermometer mounted at a convenient outside location, not in direct sunlight.
3.3 LOCATION
A. The field office facilities shall be located within the Contractor's work area shown at specific site designated by the Resident Project Representative.
3.4 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
A. The Contractor shall provide periodic maintenance and cleaning of field offices, furnishings, and equipment.
3.5 REMOVAL
A. The Contractor shall remove temporary field offices, workshops and storage buildings, and contents and services at a time when no longer needed. Foundations and debris shall be removed; site shall be graded to required elevations and the area cleaned.
