HOT WATER MIXING VALVES
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 THE REQUIREMENT
A. The Contractor shall provide hot
water mixing valves, complete with actuator, supports, spare parts,
electrical work and all other appurtenances in accordance with the
Contract Documents.
B. Hot water mixing valves furnished
under this Section shall be specifically designed for use in hydronic
applications with hot water temperatures up to 250 degrees F.
1.2 REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS,
CODES AND STANDARDS
A. The work of the following sections
applies to the work of this Section. Other sections of the
Specifications, not referenced below, shall also apply to the extent
required for proper performance of this work:

4. Section 17300,

1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. In addition to the requirements of
Section 15100 and the material listed in the detailed specification,
the following shall be submitted in accordance with Section 01300:
1. Complete assembly and
installation drawings showing dimensional layout, materials of
construction, applicable material standards, equipment details and
appurtenances.
2. Manufacturer literature and
catalog cut sheets.
3. Manufacturer’s
installation instructions.
4. Manufacturer’s O&M
manuals as specified in Section 01300.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1 VALVE
A. Valves shall be three-port
double-seated type with ductile (SG) iron body. Valve shall provide
linear flow characteristic with parabolic vee-port plug design. Valve
plug, stem, and seat shall be of stainless steel.
B. Shut-off
tightness shall be ANSI/FCI class IV or better. Valve rangeability
shall be 30:1 or better. Stem seal shall be PTFE chevron type.
Valve connections shall be ANSI 125 flanges and sized as indicated on
Contract Drawings.
2.2 ACTUATORS
A. Actuators shall be electric,
reversible, and have linear output. Supply voltage to be 24
VDC.
B. Actuator shall be provided
with 4 – 20 mA input signal for valve control and a 4 – 20 mA
output signal for valve position
feedback. Enclosure shall be NEMA 4X stainless steel. C.
Actuator to be equipped with a handwheel for manual override.
2.3 MANUFACTURERS
A. Hot water mixing valves
shall be manufactured by one of the following or equal:
1. Emerson – Fisher Control
Valve Model YS with Electric Actuator
2. Or Approved Equal
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Installation shall be in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and Section
15100.
