AIR OUTLETS AND INLETS
PART 1 - GENERAL

A. Submit shop drawings in accordance with the Section 01300.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 AIRFOIL BLADE TYPE SUPPLY GRILLES – PLAN DESIGNATION "A"
A. Aluminum supply grilles shall be Titus AeroBlade Series as shown on the plan schedule, or Price equivalent.
B. The front deflection blades shall be available parallel to the long dimension of the grille or register. All supply grilles shall be constructed with a 1 1/4" wide heavy aluminum border having a minimum thickness of 0.040” to 0.050". Outer borders shall be assembled and interlocked at the four corners and mechanically staked to form a rigid frame. Screw holes shall be countersunk for a neat appearance.
C. Blades shall be constructed of heavy-duty aluminum and shall be contoured to a specifically designed airfoil cross section to meet published performance data. Hollow
blades are not acceptable. Blades must be solid. Blades shall be spaced 3" apart. Blades shall extend completely through the side frame on each side to ensure stability throughout the complete cfm operating range of the grille. Blades shall be individually adjustable without loosening or rattling and shall be securely held in place with tension wire.
D. The grille finish shall be #26 white. The finish shall be an anodic acrylic paint, baked at 315 deg F for 30 minutes. The pencil hardness must be HB to H. The paint must pass a 100 hour ASTM D117 Corrosive Environments Salt Spray Test without creepage, blistering, or deterioration of film. The paint must pass a 250 hour ASTM 870 Water Immersion test. The paint must also pass the ASTM D 2794 Reverse Impact Cracking Test with a 50-inch pound force applied.
E. The manufacturer shall provide published performance data for the grille. The grille shall be tested in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 70 1991.
2.2 CONTRACTOR FABRICATED – PLAN DESIGNATION “B”
A. Stainless steel screen – 1” x 1” size fabricated with minimum 1-1/4” stainless steel borders.
B. Contractor option to utilize a manufactured equivalent. Requires pre-approval.
2.3 ALUMINUM SUPPLY & RETURN GRILLES - PLAN DESIGNATION "C" & “D”
A. Roll formed aluminum for sizes up to 24” x 24”; extruded aluminum for larger sizes.
¾” blade spacing, double deflection, reinforced corners. Front blades parallel to the Long dimension.
B. 1-1/4" frame with countersunk screw mounting. Border type as applicable for each installation situation.
C. Finish: White
D. Accessories as noted on schedule
E. Acceptable Manufacturers: Titus 300-FL – Supply; Titus 350-FL- Return.
2.4 SQUARE CEILING DIFFUSERS – PLAN DESIGNATION "E"
A. Square, stamped, 3-cone diffuser to discharge air in 360??pattern.
B. Provide proper frame type as required for ceiling type present. In plaster ceilings, provide plaster frame and ceiling frame. In lay-in ceilings, diffuser size to match grid dimensions for lay-in installation (Panel Type 2' x 2').
C. Fabricate of aluminum with baked enamel off-white finish.
D. Provide square ceiling diffusers sized to handle airflows indicated when sizes are not shown, or provide diffusers with sizes as indicated. Boot sizes are indicated on plans
or indicated on schedules. Acceptable Manufacturers: Titus Model TMSA-AA, Price, or equal.
2.5 CEILING GRID CORE EXHAUST AND RETURN REGISTERS/GRILLES – PLAN DESIGNATION “F”
A. Fixed grilles of ½-inch by ½-inch by ½-inch louvers.
B. Fabricated minimum 1-inch margin frame with countersunk screw mounting for plaster ceilings. Provide lay-in frame with 2’ x 2’ blank off panel with grille centered in panel to fit suspended grid ceilings.
C. Fabricated of aluminum with factory baked enamel off-white finish.
D. Provide wall grid core exhaust and return registers/grilles of size as required to handle indicated air flows and/or sizes indicated on plans.
E. Acceptable Manufacturers: Titus Core 50, Price, or equal.
2.6 LOUVERS
A. Standard Louvers
1. Provide 4-inch deep louvers with K style blades on 37 deg & 45 deg angles, heavy channel frame, birdscreen with ¾ inch screen.
2. Fabricate of 0.081" thick extruded 6063T5 aluminum alloy, welded assembly.
3. Finish: “Kynar” - Organic Coating * Architectural-grade, factory-applied organic coating, 70% PVDF Resin, with chrome phosphate pretreatment. Comply with AAMA 2605-98. Final “custom color” selection by Owner/Architect.
4. Provide louvers with Extended Sill
5. Provide louvers of sizes as indicated on plans.
6. Acceptable Manufacturers: Greenheck ESK-402, or Ruskin Equivalent.
2.7 ROOF HOODS
A. Exhaust Hood General Description:
1. Ventilator is low silhouette for relief applications with natural gravity or negative pressure system
2. Relief units with throat widths through 48 inches are ship assembled when throat lengths do not exceed 96 inches
3. Each unit shall bear a permanently affixed manufacture's nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number
B. Hood and Base:
1. Material Type: Aluminum
2. Hood Constructed of precision formed, arched panels with interlocking seams
3. Vertical end panels are fully locked into hood end panels
4. Base height is standard of 5 inches
5. Curb cap is six inches larger then throat size
6. Curb cap has pre-punched mounting holes for installation
C. Birdscreen:
1. Constructed of ½ inch Aluminum mesh
2. Mounted horizontally across the intake area of the hood
D. Hood Support:
1. Constructed of galvanized steel and fastened so the hood can either be removed completely from the base or hinged open
E. Options/Accessories:
1. Hood Coating: For exterior parts that are visible: “Kynar” – Organic Coating* Architectural-grade, factory applied organic coating, 70% PVDF Resin, with chrome phosphate pretreatment. Comply with AAMA 2605-98. . Color selected by Owner
2. Roof Curbs:
a. Type: GPI
b. Mounted onto roof with fan
c. Material: Aluminum
d. Insulation thickness: 2 inches
e. Coating Type: Kynar to match hood coating
3. Curb Seal:
a. Rubber seal between fan and the roof curb
4. Hood Insulation:
a. Lined with ½ inch fiberglass insulation to prevent condensation and sound levels
F. Acceptable Manufacturers: Greenheck Fabra Hood or Loren Cook equivalent
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install items in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
B. Check location of outlets and inlets and make necessary adjustments in position to conform to architectural features, symmetry, and lighting arrangement.
C. Install grilles to ductwork with airtight connection.
D. Provide balancing dampers on duct take-off to grilles and registers, regardless of whether dampers are specified as part of the diffuser, or grille and register assembly.
E. For all “Occupied Buildings” Paint ductwork visible behind air outlets and inlets matte black.
