This spec was part of the Des Plaines, IL River WRF project that bid Feb 26, 2015.
SECTION 01025 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT OF UNIT PRICE BID ITEMS
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 GENERAL CONDITIONS
A. Refer to Articles 13 and 15 of the General Conditions as may be modified in the Supplementary Conditions.
1.2 REFERENCES
A. State of Illinois, Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, and Illinois Department of Transportation Supplemental Specifications and Recurring Special Provisions, latest edition, and hereinafter referred to as the Standard Specifications.
1.3 PAYMENT AND PRICES
A. Payment shall be based on the unit prices provided in the Bidding Documents for each individual bid item
B. All work not specifically set forth as a pay item in the Bid Form shall be considered an incidental obligation of Contractor and all costs in connection therewith shall be included in the Contract prices.
C. The Contract prices for each item shall be payment in full for performing the work and for furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, material hauling, excavation, disposal and testing necessary for the completed task associated with that item.
D. The Contract prices for each item are to include protecting existing utilities, site objects, landscaping, new Work and all other facilities which are to remain in service after completion
E. This Specification covers Unit Price Bid Items only.
1.4 UNIT PRICE MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT ITEMS
A. The following paragraphs describe the measurement of and payment for the Work to be done under the Unit Price Items listed in the Schedule of Prices.
SECTION 1 – SITE WORK
Cold Milling (Special): Cold Milling will be measured for payment at the contract unit price per square yard. Variable depth removal will include removal depth of 1-1/2” at the edge of pavement to 0” removal at the removal limit, indicated on the plans.
Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Removal – Butt Joint: Surface removal for butt joints will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square yards.
Concrete Sidewalk Removal: Sidewalk removal will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square feet.
Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Removal – 1.5”: HMA surface removal of 1.5” for subsequent resurfacing will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square yards.
Full Depth Pavement Removal: Pavement removal will be measured for payment in place, thickness may vary, and the area computed in square yard.
Saw Cuts: Mandatory saw cuts for removal operations for Pavement Patching will be measured for payment in place in feet. Optional saw cuts to aid the Contractor’s removal operation will not be measured for payments.
Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface, Mix “C”, N50: HMA surfacing will be measured for payment in tons on approved platform scales, surge bin scales, or surge in hopper scales equipped with automatic printers as specified in Article 1102.01(a)(9) of the Standard Specifications. The Contractor shall furnish a load ticket upon which is recorded the net weight of the HMA in each truck. In addition, the load ticket shall have sufficient space for signatures, identification of the HMA, date of delivery, and any other data which the Engineer may require. The Contractor shall submit the load ticket to the Engineer at the work site when the truck arrives.
Hot-Mix Asphalt Binder Course, IL-19.0, N50: HMA surfacing will be measured for payment in tons on approved platform scales, surge bin scales, or surge in hopper scales equipped with automatic printers as specified in Article 1102.01(a)(9) of the Standard Specifications. The Contractor shall furnish a load ticket upon which is recorded the net weight of the HMA in each truck. In addition, the load ticket shall have sufficient space for signatures, identification of the HMA, date of delivery, and any other data which the Engineer may require. The Contractor shall submit the load ticket to the Engineer at the work site when the truck arrives.
Portland Cement Concrete Sidewalk, 4”: Sidewalk will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square feet. Aggregate base required to bring sidewalk to grade is included.
Bituminous Materials (Prime Coat): When Bituminous materials are delivered by tank truck from a refinery or from a storage tank, a weight ticket for each truck load shall be furnished to the inspector. The ticket shall show the weight of the empty truck (the truck being weighed each time before it is loaded), the weight of the loaded truck, and the net weight of the bituminous material. The ticket will included the specific gravity at 60oF/60oF of the bituminous material in the tank truck and the number of gallons at 600F shall be shown on the weight ticket.
Class D Patches, 6”: Pavement removal and replacement will be measured for payment in place, and the area computed in square yards.
Manholes To Be Adjusted: Adjustments will be measured for payment for each 1.5” steel adjustment ring furnished and installed. Adjustments shall be coordinated with 1.5” asphalt overlay.
Manholes To Be Reconstructed: Reconstruction will be measured for payment for each manhole reconstructed, which includes excavation and proper backfill, removal and disposal of existing adjustment rings, frame and cover, new adjustment rings, frame and cover furnished and installed, furnish and install exterior manhole chimney seal.
Valve Box to be Adjusted: Adjustments will be measured for payment for each valve box adjusted to grade. Adjustments shall include adjustment rings, additional riser, excavation, backfill and compaction as necessary.
Aggregate Prime Coat: Aggregate for covering prime coat will be measured for payment in tons. The aggregate will be weighed on platform scales meeting the approval of the Engineer. A weight ticket for each truck load shall be furnished to the Engineer.
Aggregate Base Repair: Aggregate for base repair will be measured for payment in tons installed. Removal and proper disposal of excavated base material shall be included in the cost of Aggregate Base Repair.
Preparation of Base: Preparation of base will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square yards.
Thermoplastic Pavement Marking – Line 4”: Lines will be measured for payment in place in feet.
Thermoplastic Pavement Marking – Letters & Symbols: Words and symbols shall conform to the sizes and dimensions specified in the Illinois Manual on uniform Traffic Control Devices and Standard 780001 . Letters and symbols will be measured in square feet.
New Concrete Pavement, Detail 02132 & 02994: New concrete pavement shall be measured in square yards and shall include compacted subgrade, geotech fabric, 18” of CA1 crushed aggregate and 12” of CA6 crushed aggregate base and 8” Portland cement concrete with
#4 reinforcement bars 12” each way.
New Asphalt Pavement, Detail 02994 & 02995: New asphalt pavement shall be measured in square yards and shall include compacted subgrade, geotech fabric, 18” of CA1 crushed aggregate and 12” CA6 rushed aggregate base. Hot-mix asphalt shall be paid for under separate quantities.
Foundation Removal: Foundation Removal shall be measured for payment in cubic yards and will be measured using a four (4) foot wide trench along the centerline length of the installed storm sewer through the indicated 1968 treatment building, abandoned; at the per plan depth.
SECTION 2 – INFLUENT JUNCTION BOX AND SEWER REHABILITATION
Chemical Grout Pressure Injection: Chemical grout pressure injection will be measured for payment in linear feet.
Invert and Wall Repair: Repair of the sewer piping and influent junction box walls and invert will be measured for payment by square feet of repaired area.
Cementitious Liner – 48-inch Dia. Sewer Piping: The cost for installation of the cementitious liner in the 48-inch diameter influent sewer shall be paid at the unit price per linear foot stated in the Bid Form for the specified liner thickness.
Cementitious Liner – 36-inch Dia. Sewer Piping: The cost for installation of the cementitious liner in the 36-inch diameter influent sewer shall be paid at the unit price per linear foot stated in the Bid Form for the specified liner thickness.
Cementitious Liner – Influent Junction Box: The cost for installation of the cementitious liner shall be paid at the unit price per square foot stated in the Bid Form for the specified liner thickness.
SECTION 3 – BUILDING REHABILITATION
Unit Masonry Repointing and Cleaning – Measurement for payment shall be on a square foot basis. Such price shall include all labor and materials incidental to the work, including but not limited to mortar, and removal and replacement of existing damaged or cracked brick units
