1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. The chemical metering pumps shall transfer a chemical solution of liquid alum in metered quantities from the storage tank to the belt presses or the filtrate pump station.
1.3 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
A. Liquid Handled: Liquid Alum.
B. Pump Type: Motor driven, reciprocating, mechanically actuated diaphragm pump.
C. Minimum Pump Capacity: 41.5 GPH.
D. Maximum Discharge Pressure: 145 psig.
E. Suction Lift: 1 foot maximum.
F. Operating Temperature: Ambient 40-90 °F.

a. Motor nameplate horsepower: ¾ HP.
b. Type drive: Variable speed.
c. Nominal (synchronous) motor rpm: 1800 rpm.
d. Enclosure: TEFC
e. Power: 120 volt, single phase, 60 Hz.
f. The motor shall not be overloaded beyond the nameplate rating under any normal conditions encountered.
B. Pump:
1. Drive:
a. Type: Positive displacement, mechanically actuated diaphragm.
b. Exposed fasteners: Stainless steel.
c. Maximum strokes per minute (adjustable): 160 spm.
d. Stroke length adjustment: Manual 0 to 100% adjustment.
2. Liquid end materials of construction:
a. Head: PVDF or PP.
b. Diaphragm: PTFE.
c. Ball Check: Ceramic.
d. Ball Seat: PVDF or PP.
e. Gaskets: PTFE faced Viton.
