CHEMICAL METERING PUMPS - GENERAL
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 WORK INCLUDED
A. Chemical Metering Pumps:
1. Alum Metering Pump No. 1: P-8-26-1.
2. Alum Metering Pump No. 2: P-8-26-2.
3. Alum Metering Pump No. 3: P-8-26-3.
4. Alum Metering Pump No. 4: P-8-26-4.
5. Alum Metering Pump No. 5: P-8-26-5.
B. Major components included with, but not limited to:
1. Pump.
2. Drive Mechanism.
3. Accessories.
4. Controls.
1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. See Detail Pump Specification at the end of this section.
1.3 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
A. See Detail Pump Specification at the end of this section.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Include all metering pumps in a single submittal package. Partial or incomplete submittals will not be reviewed.
B. Shop drawings: Submit under provisions of Section 01330, including the following:
1. Complete performance curves showing:
a. Capacity.
b. Head.
2. Descriptive information on material and equipment furnished.
3. Pump data and dimensions.
4. Complete assembly and installation drawings.
5. Electric motor data.
6. Electric controls data including panel elevation, ladder diagram, and component data.
C. Submit operations and maintenance manual under the provisions of Section 01730.
D. Submit certificates of proper installation and operator training under provisions of Section 01445.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store and handle the equipment under the provisions of Section 01600.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
A. Prominent Fluid Controls, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA.
B. Grundfos, Olathe, KS.
C. Or Equal.
2.2 GENERAL
A. All components of the chemical feed systems herein specified shall be coordinated to provide a complete and functional system.
2.3 METAL FABRICATION
A. Metal parts as described herein conforming to section 05500.
1. Anchor bolts, fasteners, washers and nuts: 316 stainless steel.
2.4 EQUIPMENT
A. Motor:
1. See Detail Pump Specification at the end of this section.
B. Pump:
1. See Detail Pump Specification at the end of this section.
C. Pump Piping, Valve, and Accessory Package
1. Provide a corrosion-resistant, completely self-contained package with chemical metering pump, and all necessary piping, appurtenances and fittings assembled and tested by the chemical metering pump manufacturer.
2. Floor and wall mountable stand:
a. Provide a polypropylene/polyethylene or fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) floor and wall mountable stand for factory mounting of pump and pump accessories.
b. Mount the chemical metering pumps, all piping, fittings and accessories to the stand.
3. Piping Materials: Schedule 80, PVC piping.
4. Inlet and Outlet Connections:
a. Provide FNPT Union.
b. Size: As scheduled or shown on drawings; ½” minimum.
5. Piping configuration as shown in drawings; minimum assembly as follows:
a. Inlet piping:
1) Union.
2) Isolation Valve (Ball Valve).
3) Wye Strainer.
4) Calibration Chamber (one per package inlet connection).
5) Isolation valve.
6) Union.
b. Outlet piping:
1) Union.
2) Flow monitor.
3) Pulsation Damper.
4) Pressure Relief Valve.
5) Backpressure Valve.
6) Isolation Valve (Ball Valve).
7) Union.
6. Backpressure Valve:
a. Valve shall ensure that the discharge pressure is greater than the suction pressure.
b. Valve shall be constructed of materials compatible with pumped material.
c. Backpressure setting: 40 psi - factory set; field adjustable.
d. Valves to be supplied: One per each pump head.
7. Pressure Relief Valve:
a. Valve shall open and bypass process liquid if pressure in pipeline becomes higher than relief valve setting.
b. Valve shall be constructed of materials compatible with pumped material.
c. Relief pressure setting: 150 psi maximum; field adjustable.
d. Valves to be supplied: One per each pump head.
8. Calibration Chamber:
a. Capacity: Graduated cylinder sized to provide a minimum of 30 seconds run time at maximum flow rate.
b. Chambers to be supplied: One per each pump head.
9. Pulsation Dampener:
a. Pulsation dampener shall be fabricated of materials compatible with pumped material.
b. Precharge with nitrogen.
c. Equip with glycerin filled pressure gauge with brass connections and stainless steel case.
d. Dampeners to be supplied: One per each pump head.
10. Pressure Gauges:
a. Each pump shall have dedicated pressure gauges with PVC isolator.
b. Pressure gauges to be liquid-filled, 0-160 psi pressure range.
11. Flow Monitor: Provide in pump discharge piping. Flow monitor will monitor pump strokes or flow and be connected to the pumps microprocessor based controller for No/Low Flow Fault monitoring.
2.5 INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL
A. Furnish controls and control panel compatible with the pumps herein. Control panel and controls shall be furnished in accordance with Division 13 and Division 16, Contract Drawing 09-I-12, and shall conform to the requirements herein.
B. Each pump shall be provided with the following control signal inputs prewired to terminal strip for direct connection to 90-LCP-8-18 Alum Pump Control Panel.
1. 4-20mA Pump Speed (Pacing) signal analog input.
2. Pump Enable Digital input signal which shall cause pump to start and follow Pump Pacing control signal.
C. Each pump shall be provided with the following output signals prewired to terminal strip for direct connection to 90-LCP-8-18 Alum Pump Control Panel.
1. Powered 4-20mA Pump Speed Feedback analog output signal.
2. Pump Alarm Digital output signal which shall alarm on all pump alarms including no/low flow output.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. In accordance with Contract Documents, shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions.
B. Eliminate any strain from piping.
3.2 MANUFACTURER'S SERVICES
A. Provide manufacturer's services under provisions of Section 01445.
B. Minimum Service Requirements:
1. Installation: As required for proper installation.
2. Start-up and functional testing: One day on site.
3. Operator training: One day on site.
C. Service to Repair Defective Work: Provide during one-year warranty period under the provisions of General Conditions.
