SECTION 15125 FLAP GATES

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

A. Flap gates and appurtenances.

B. Flap gates are shown on the Drawings in Group 30.

1.2 REFERENCES

A. ASTM International:
1. ASTM A240 - Standard Specification for Chromium and Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip for Pressure Vessels and for General Applications.
2. ASTM D2000 - Standard Classification System for Rubber Products in Automotive Applications.

1.3 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

A. Gate diameter: 18 inches.

B. Operating head, from liquid surface to centerline of valve:
1. Seating Head, ft.: 16.25.
2. Unseating Head, ft.: 0.75.

C. Maximum coefficient of variation (Cv): 8,650

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Shop Drawings: Submit under the provisions of Division 1, including the following:
1. Product data, including components, materials and weights.
2. Drawings of each size gate.

B. Furnish operation and maintenance manuals under the provisions of Division 1.

C. Submit certificates of proper installation and operator training under provisions of Division 1.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Deliver, store, and handle the equipment under the provisions of Division 1.


PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

A. Ross Valve, Troy, NY.

B. Or equal

2.2 GENERAL

A. All equipment shall be the end product of one manufacturer. The manufacturer shall be responsible all items covered herein.

B. Flap gates shall be provided as complete assemblies, including gate, frame, mount, and all necessary appurtenances.

2.3 COMPONENTS

A. Gate Disc:
1. Materials of construction: High density polyethylene.

B. Gate Frame:
1. Materials of construction:
a. Frame and stop bar: High density polyethylene.
b. Weight bar, hinge pin, and all hardware: 316 stainless steel.
c. Seal: EPDM
2. Mount type: Wall-mounted, angled base.
3. Provide field replaceable seals.

C. Provide EPDM gasket for installation between gate and wall.

D. Anchor Bolts: Provide 316 SST adhesive anchor bolts per requirements of section 05500.


PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. Install gates in accordance with Drawings, shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions.

3.2 MANUFACTURER'S SERVICES

A. Provide manufacturer's services under the provisions of Division 1.

B. Minimum service requirements:
1. Installation: As required for proper installation.
2. Start-up, field testing, and operator training: One half day on site.

C. Service to Repair Defective Work: Provide during one year warranty period under provisions of General Conditions.
