END SUCTION CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
A. W3 Booster Pumps:
1. W3 Booster Pump No. 1: P-5-22-1.
2. W3 Booster Pump No. 2: P-5-22-2.
3. W3 Booster Pump No. 3: P-5-22-3.
4. W3 Booster Pump No. 4: P-5-22-4.
B. Major components included, but not limited to:
1. Motor.
2. Drive mechanisms.
3. Pump, impeller and shaft.
4. Base.
1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. The W3 Booster Pumps shall be capable of pumping treated secondary effluent from Clearwell No.1 and No. 2 into the plant W3 water system.

1.4 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
A. General Requirements:
1. Liquid pumped: W3 (Effluent Water).
2. Specific gravity: 1.0.
3. Maximum liquid temperature: Ambient.
4. Suction flange size, inch: 6
a. 5-inch suction is acceptable; provide 6” x 5” eccentric reducer for each pump if supplied.
5. Discharge flange size, inch: 4.
B. Hydraulic Requirements:
1. Design flow, gpm: 635.
2. Design TDH, feet: 245.
3. Design minimum percent efficiency: 63.5.
4. Minimum NPSHR, ft absolute: 12.9.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Shop Drawings: Submit under provisions of Division 1, including the following:
1. Complete assembly and installation drawings.
2. Descriptive information on material and equipment furnished.
3. Electric motor data.
4. Complete performance curves showing:
a. Capacity.
b. Head.
c. Efficiency.
d. Brake horsepower requirements.
B. Submit operation and maintenance manuals under provisions of Division 1.
C. Submit certificates of proper installation and operator training under provisions of Division 1.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store and handle the equipment under the provisions of Division 1.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
A. Fairbanks Morse, Kansas City, Kansas.
B. Goulds Pumps, Inc., Seneca Falls, New York.
C. Or Equal.
2.2 GENERAL
A. All equipment shall be the end product of one pump system manufacturer. The complete system including all items covered herein and in the Detailed Specification Sections.
2.3 METAL FABRICATION
A. Furnish metal parts described herein conforming to Section 05500.
B. Anchor bolts, fasteners, nuts, and washers: 316 stainless steel.
2.4 EQUIPMENT
A. Motor: Furnish motor compatible with the driven equipment herein. Motors shall be furnished as specified in Section 11338, and shall conform to the detailed requirements herein:
1. Motor nameplate horsepower: 80 HP, Inverter Duty.
2. Type drive: Variable speed.
3. Provide two Klixon type motor temperature sensors in each motor winding. (One spare set.).
4. Nominal (synchronous) motor rpm: 3600 rpm.
5. Motor mounting: Horizontal.
6. Enclosure: TEFC.
7. Power: 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz.
8. The motor shall have NEMA B starting torque and low starting current. The motor shall not be overloaded beyond the nameplate rating under any normal conditions encountered.
9. Motor to be rated for Inverter Duty.
B. Mechanical Drive:
1. Type: Direct drive.
2. Provide neoprene sleeved flexible couplings, Woods, Rexnord or equal with OSHA approved guard.
C. Pump Construction:
1. Pump volute, back plate suction piece:
a. Construction: Close-grained cast iron ASTM A48 CL30.
b. Suction and discharge flanges: ANSI, 125 pound bolt circles.
2. Impeller:
a. Construction: Close-grained cast iron ASTM A48 CL30 or bronze ASTM B585.
b. Balancing: Hydraulically balanced by back vanes or, by back wear ring and balancing holes.
c. Provide impeller clearance adjustment.
3. Seal: Single mechanical John Crane Type 1 or Type 2.
a. Rotating seal faces: Carbon.
b. Stationary seal faces: Ceramic.
c. Mechanical seal gland, spring and collar: Stainless steel.
d. Bellows and O-ring: Buna-n.
e. Lubrication: Volute water.
f. Provide lubrication water system complete with simplex strainer per section 15000.
4. Bearing housing:
a. Construction: Cast iron ASTM A48 CL30.
b. Type: Back, pull out design.
c. Provide impeller clearance adjustment.
5. Shaft:
a. Construction: Ground and polished carbon steel C1045.
b. Stainless steel sleeve through stuffing box.
6. Shaft bearings:
a. Pump side bearing-type: Ball or roller type, AFBMA Standard.
b. Motor side bearing: Ball or roller type bearings, AFBMA Standard.
c. Lubrication: Grease.
d. Bearing life: B-10 life of 50,000 hours AFBMA 9.
D. Pump Base:
1. Construction: Minimum 3/8-inch thick fabricated steel.
2. Provide common pump and motor mounting.
3. Provide grout holes.
4. Factory mount complete pumping unit including motor, gear unit and pump.
2.5 ACCESSORIES
A. Gauge Connections:
1. Provide 3/8-inch NPT tapped and plugged suction and discharge gauge connections on the pump nozzles or flanges.
2. When unable to install in pump, tap adjacent discharge and/or suction piping as shown on the Drawings.
2.6 FINISHING
A. Shop and Field Painting: Conform to Section 09900, System No. 5. Verify compatibility of shop prime and field paint.
2.7 INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL
A. Furnish controls and control panel compatible with the pumps herein. Control panel and controls shall be furnished in accordance with Division 13 and Division 16, Contract Drawing 09-I-8, and shall conform to the requirements herein.
B. Overload Temperature Sensor:
1. Motors to be provided with two Klixon bimetal opening contact type overload temperature sensor in each phase winding.
2. Sensors shall open when motor temperature exceeds manufacture recommended operation temperature and shall automatically reset when motor temperature reaches safe operating temperature.
3. Sensors to be connected in series, with each sensor located in the hottest spot of the phase windings.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. In accordance with Drawings, shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions.
B. Level bases and grout with non-shrinking grout.
C. Pipe seal water to stuffing box as shown on the Drawings.
D. Pipe all pump drains to hub drain.
E. Align pump and drive.
F. Eliminate any strain from piping.
3.2 MANUFACTURER'S SERVICES
A. Provide manufacturer's services under provisions of Division 1.
B. Minimum Service Requirements:
1. Installation: As required for proper installation.
2. Start-up and field testing: One day on site.
3. Operator training: One half day on site.
C. Service to Repair Defective Work: Provide during one-year warranty period under the provisions of General Conditions.
